Work in England

We will find you a high quality placement in either a pub or hotel, along with affordable housing. The Work England program gives you the opportunity to work, live and experience Britain like an insider. You will get to experience the true nature of the British people and immerse yourself in the culture of this historical country.

All Summer placements have been filled.

* Important Notice for Americans interested in applying for this program: AIDE will no longer be accepting applications for the Work England program from U.S. Citizens after August 15, 2008. This is due to very recent visa regulation changes, which you can read more about here.

* This may be subject to change, once a final decision has been announced from the United States Government concerning the new Tier 5 system, and if the United States will agree to be a country participating in this reciprocal visa scheme.

Dates:
You may begin your program at any time of the year with the exception of the Christmas and New Year’s Holiday period, which is generally December 15-January 15th. We also cannot place people who wish to end their placements directly before Christmas. This is a very busy period of the hospitality year, making it very hard to train new staff at this time.

* Please note important new requirement for submitting biometric information - In some countries currently, including Canada – and in all countries by April 2008 – you will need to provide ‘biometric’ information as part of the visa application process. This biometric information consists of scans of all 10 of your fingers and a full-face digital photograph. You will have to go to the nearest VAC (visa application center) in person to provide this biometric information. In those countries where there is no VAC, you will need to go to the British mission. Your visa applications will not be processed until you have provided the necessary biometric information. The finger scans are electronic so staff do not need to use any ink, liquid or chemicals. You will have your digital photograph taken at the same time and the whole procedure should take no more than five minutes to complete. You should make sure that you do not have any decoration (such as henna), or any cuts or other markings on your fingertips before having your finger scans. You should also make sure that if you have any cuts and bruises on your face, they have healed or disappeared before you have your photograph taken. Digital photographs must be of your full face and you should not wear sunglasses, a hat or any other head covering (unless you wear it for cultural or religious reasons).
