Take your enthusiasm and passion for learning
and helping people to Peru, where you can work on a medical
project that will allow you to experience firs- hand the Latin
American healthcare system.
You and your group members can spend anywhere
from 2 weeks to 4 weeks providing assistance to doctors and nurses
in local hospitals and medical clinics. Depending on Spanish level
and experience, you will be able to rotate through the emergency
room, pediatrics, obstetrics, internal medicine, and even surgery,
gaining experience by both observing a variety of procedures, and
at times providing direct assistance to the physicians.
*** Please note that specific details, such as
exact work hours and the type of work, can only be determined by
expertise, skills, and attitude. Also, some programs do have special
requirements that are need to be accepted.
*** Number of participants for group programs
is flexible for up to 10 people. If you would like to arrange
a program for a group of more than 10 people, AAG will be

with your group members in a local hostel in Lima. You will
be provided with 2-3 meals a day as well as nearby laundry
facilities while on your project.
Visa Documentation:
Most tourist visas are valid for up to 3
months. We recommend checking with your local Peruvian consulate
for the most up to date visa information. We will assist you
throughout the process.
Language
Classes:
Optional language classes are available in
Lima, prior to your volunteer program. Language classes are
a great way to be introduced to a new country and improve
your Spanish skills. Classes are held prior to starting your
volunteer work and are usually one-on-one sessions with a
personal tutor. Classes are 10 hours per week (2 hours/day)
and include homestay accommodations and meals. These classes
are highly recommended, especially if you are a beginner or
have not practiced your Spanish recently.
